Best CBD

Don't be fooled by the percentage indications for CBD oil and capsules. Why percentages are often used instead of mg (milligrams) for CBD oil supplements is not entirely clear. Possibly this is due to the fact that the people producing the oil have to produce oils with a certain percentage of CBD. The producer simply adopts this and largely states 5% or 15% on the packaging.

Don’t be fooled by the percentage indications for CBD oil and capsules. Why percentages are often used instead of mg (milligrams) for CBD oil supplements is not entirely clear. Possibly this is due to the fact that the people producing the oil have to produce oils with a certain percentage of CBD. The producer simply adopts this and largely states 5% or 15% on the packaging.

However, this says nothing about how much CBD you actually ingest. One pipette is not the same as the other and one type of oil is more liquid than another. Therefore, one drop of a 15% oil does not necessarily contain three times as much as one drop of a 5% oil. That’s why we say CBD percentages are misleading, because through this percentage you cannot compare the effects of different products. You should therefore only look at how many milligrams (mg) one drop or capsule contains. In other words: look at ‘mg’ per capsule or drop, not ‘%’.

Is 5% CBD Stronger Than 16%?

When it comes to capsules, it’s completely impossible to compare. One capsule might contain a 16% oil where another brand’s contains a 5% oil. The 16% seems more than three times as strong. But in reality it turns out that the 5% contains four times as much CBD as the 16%. How is that possible?

The 16% oil comes in very small capsules and the 5% oil comes in normal capsules, which contain about 12 times as much CBD oil as the small capsules. But of course 16 (%) looks much nicer on the packaging than 6 (mg).

Look At Dosage In ‘MG’

When buying CBD oil or capsules, you should therefore not look at the strength in percentages (%), but only at the number of milligrams (mg) per drop or capsule. Only then can you compare the different supplements in a correct way, without any disappointments later on.

THC-Free CBD Oil

CBD is not psychoactive and therefore has no mind-altering effects. The substance from the hemp plant that is psychoactive is called THC and that is not found in CBD oil. Provided the oil is of high quality.

Guaranteed Amount Of CBD

It is not only important to make sure that it is free of THC or not (depending on your needs), but more importantly, that it contains enough CBD. There are products on the market that contain dozens of times less than they claim.

It’s available everywhere. Drug stores, even supermarkets and many other stores sell CBD oil. But depending on where you buy it, it is not always clear what the quality of the oil is and how much active ingredients it contains. So pay close attention to this when buying CBD oil.

When buying from seed banks to grow your own plants we would advice you to start out with the Northern Lights strain, as this strain is naturally high in CBD.

Capsules Increasingly More Popular Than Oil

Previously, CBD oil supplements were mainly available in liquid form. But capsules are becoming increasingly popular. These do not have the disadvantages of drops: they are easier to take in, easier to dose and you do not suffer from the (often) very strong taste of the oil.

CBD Explained

There are hundreds of different substances in cannabis plants. About 100 of them are so-called cannabinoids. The most well-known cannabinoid is THC, the active substance in marijuana and hashish. This mind-altering substance causes people to get high. The other important cannabinoid from the cannabis plant is CBD, or cannabidiol. This substance has no psychoactive effect, so it does not get you high. The taste of CBD is best described as nutty.

How CBD Oil Is Made

Best CBD

Most plants for CBD oil are grown on organic farms in the US, but also in, for example, Canada. The farmers make sure that the CBD content in the cannabis or hemp plants is as high as possible. They can grow the cannabis plants legally, because there is no THC in them. But how exactly is the oil made? Cannabidiol is extracted from the flowers and leaves of hemp or cannabis plants by CO2 extraction. After that extraction process, a paste remains. Hemp seed oil is added to this which makes it an oil that is easier to dose.

What Is CBDa?

Cannabidiolic acid (acid), abbreviated CBDa, is the acid form (raw) of cannabidiol and is found naturally in cannabis plants. Structurally, it is similar to cannabidiol, only CBDa contains carboxylic acid. Just as THC forms from THCa, CBD forms from CBDa. This process usually occurs after drying or heating (decarboxylating) the plant material.

There are two extraction methods for extracting CBD from the hemp plant. Heating or supercritical CO2 extraction. After heating, the oil contains the cannabinoid CBD, along with proteins from hemp, vitamins A and E, carotene and omega-3 and -6.

However, CO2 extraction retains several acids. This means that multiple types of cannabinoids are present in the oil, among which CBG, CBN and CBGa. In addition, terpenes, flavonoids and phenols also remain present in a CO2 extract.

CBD Quantity & Expiration

Usage may vary from person to person and from product to product. You can contact the supplier for appropriate advice for your desired application. After this, you can adjust the dosage as needed. Also read the information present with the product itself for advice on use.

Make sure to shake the bottle well before each use so that the cannabidiol, which often sinks to the bottom, can mix well. Now drop a few drops under the tongue by squeezing the cap of the pipette. Hold this in your mouth for a few moments so it can be absorbed well by the oral mucosa. After about a minute you can swallow any remaining oil. The bottles drip best when they are at room temperature. Also, the higher the percentage of CBD the thicker the product becomes.

The CBD oil is best stored in a cool and dark place. The oil will then have a shelf life of at least 1 year. Keep in mind that by keeping the oil cold the viscosity increases. Therefore it is best to use it at room temperature. And there are no known side effects with normal use.

Does CBD Interact With Medication?

CBD is a very safe molecule and can be used by almost anyone. Nevertheless, it is wise to be well informed about the possible interaction and contraindication it may have with your medications.

Cannabidiol is processed by the same system of enzymes as many mainstream drugs, namely Cytochrome P450. When the P450 enzyme has to process more than one substance at a time, it can speed up the metabolism, slow it down, or even have no effect at all. This means that the effect of a substance can become stronger or weaker, and this can increase the risk of side effects.

CBD oil is known to have interactions with medications for blood pressure, among other things.

Pets And CBD

Dogs, cats and other pets may also use CBD oil. How much they need depends on their weight. The heavier, the higher the dose they need. In the beginning, you can use a dose of 1 mg of CBD per kg of body weight. The oil can be mixed with your pet’s food, just to make it easier for yourself.
